Yannik Mantel is a Berlin-based fashion designer working at the intersection of body, material and construction.

His work explores how garments can shape, restrict and reveal the body. Through corsetry, unconventional pattern cutting and material experimentation, he creates silhouettes that range from accentuation to exaggeration.

Combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced skills in tailoring and corsetry, he constructs technically complex and highly detailed pieces. His process involves working with both unconventional and refined materials such as latex, silk organza and bobbin lace, often pushing them beyond their expected behavior.

During his studies at AMD Berlin, he developed a strong conceptual and technical approach to design. He gained industry experience at Marina Hoermanseder, where he contributed to the development of the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, focusing on leather craftsmanship, textile development and atelier processes.

His work is driven by material exploration and a departure from conventional pattern cutting, resulting in intricate textile surfaces and sculptural silhouettes.

Besides his interest in fashion he also enjoys creative work in the realm of painting an illustration as well as makeup artistry

Following his creative nature he has been moving there after his design focused graduation from high school at the age of 17.

Pursuing his studies in fashion design at AMD Berlin greatly improved his skills in conceptualizing as well as the production side of design.

Additional to his university courses he taught himself advanced techniques in the field of tailoring and corsetry, allowing him to create bespoke and technically challenging garments to a high quality standard. Being part of the Inside LVMH Certificate, a 4 – Week program designed by industry professionals, gave him deep insights into the luxury industry focusing on sustainability, branding and consumer expierience.

As part of his study he completed a six month internship at Marina Hoermanseder, an internationally renowned designer focused on working with different kinds of leather. There he worked closely with the head of atelier on the creation of their Autumn Winter 2025 Collection, gaining knowledge and skills in working with leather, especially orthopedic sculptures. Additionally he played a main role in the creating of their textile designs, supporting fabric sourcing, creating intricate patterns and sewing the final pieces, oftentimes by hand. During the presentation on the runway, he ensured a smooth running of the show by supporting the backstage dressing models as well as overviewing final touches.

For his six look bachelor collection he challenged himself in the garment creation, using hard to work with and unfamiliar materials and combinations like latex and silk organza. Additionally he advanced his skills in material creation and manipulation exploring the techniques of knit as well as bobbin lace. Another important feature is the intricate pattern making, leaving behind traditional ways of pattern cutting and instead opting for unconventional shapes adding visual interest as well as allowing him to communicate the conceptual vision.

Currently he supports students at AMD Berlin as a tutor with his expertise in production to help them realize their own designs.
